Captions cover Mouth (iPad) Zoom Ticket #8198634 #ZoomCaptions

FYI: I have submitted this ticket to Zoom. Zoom Ticket #8198634

Here is an example of the problem: On iPad, the captions coverup the mouth:

Yes,  need an option to be able to move the caption box.  No one position is suitable at all times.  I will make a suggestion that you can open full subtitles and it will appear on one side rather at the bottoms but of course will further reduce the viewable screen of people you are trying to see.

You are correct. I notice that too--that in this forum format you cannot double click it. I also added another screen shot example of the problem.
Here is the content of the email of Nov 10th from Michael Lampa:

Hi Carolyn,

Good day,

I have submitted a ticket to our engineering team to have this checked.

Will let you know once we receive a response.

Thanks

I am attaching a pdf file, so that you can see the Zoom support response and my response to it. This will make it easier for you to enlarge the text. We may be getting some "traction" here...

Sharing an experience with Zoom captions:   Last Friday I participated on Mayo Clinic Connect mentor’s discussion. The captions worked well. Everyone was impressed. I think only 3 of the group need them.  The session was recorded so those unable to attend could review it.  On the recording, the captions were all mid screen, mostly across the speaker’s face. Really annoying. The host was set on ‘speaker view’.  Wondering if gallery view would eliminate that issue.  There were 12 people on this conference.

Hi Julie,

Zoom about month or so ago gave us the ability to move the caption box.  If you mouse over the caption box with your cursor you will see a white hand appear.  Right click on the caption box and drag it where you want to.  I have found there is no perfect spot to place the caption but the feature is helpful at time.

Hope this helps,

Thanks Dan. That isn’t the problem. Moving the captions works great during the live Zoom meeting. I’m referring to the saved for replay one; the recording.  Not possible to move it on that.

I have tried this and it does not work for me. When I put the cursor over the captions, it changes to a hand so I expected to be able to move the caption but it does not have any effect. I have tried several things - all to no avail. I am running Windows 10 and was told it might be an Apple-only feature.

The feature I spoke of is on my laptop that is running windows.  Make sure you are running the latest version of zoom.  If that doesn’t fix it I am not sure what the problem is especially since the white hand appears and yet you cannot drag it to another location.

Captions Tip:
I use the "Show Subtitles" option for the Speaker View in Zoom. I turn off the captions "Hide Subtitles" and use the "View Full Transcript" for the Gallery View in Zoom. This is useful for Gallery View as it identifies the person talking.

It worked for me, but only up or down. I could not move the captions to the side.  Up worked better than down for me.

Julie, what device are you using for this zoom? (Of course can't move captions on iPad or iPhone, to my knowledge)
I noticed zoom puts out updates...sometimes several a week. So I would just be sure you have the latest at (PC or Mac) at: Mac or PC Zoom Version Update

Julie, the other thing that makes a big difference is to update your operating system! Usually you go to the upper left corner, click on the icon (such as Chrome, Safari, Firefox etc) and click on "About" Usually you can update it there.

Sorry...I don't know how to edit my posts...
So, in my case I go to the Apple Icon (Mac), click on that and then on "About..." to update my operating system. The previous note was to update your browser (smile). So update both items!

My concern was not about the actual Zoom meeting. It was about the recorded version. I could move the captions during the meeting, but when viewing/listening to the recorded version, they were immovable and on the middle of the screen. No way to switch from gallery view to speaker view, etc. in the recording.
